Simple Homemade Chai Tea Recipe
a deliciously warm chai drink for colder months. With all of the spices that remind you of Fall and cozy days.
- 1 Cup Water
- 1/2 Cup Milk of Choice
- 1 Tablespoon Sugar or sugar substitute
- 1 Dash Vanilla (or to your liking)
- 3 Tablespoons Creamer of choice (you can do as much or little as you want)
- 1 Can Whipped Cream (for topping)
- 1 Pinch Cinnamon (for garnish)
- 1 Bag of Chai tea (if you are not making from scratch)
First you will fill your kettle with water and put it on the stove until boiling (until the whistle sound goes off). At the same time pour your milk into a small pot on the stove and turn the stove on medium low heat. While the milk is warming put the tea bag in the pot with it to begin the infusion. You can also warm the water and milk together but not everyone likes to get the milk as hot as the water. Just warm slowly if you mix them instead of warming separately and if you are warming together don’t forget to still add the tea bag in the pot.
Once the water and milk get warm pull the water off of the stove and put the milk on low temperature. At this point add the water, sugar and vanilla to the mix. Let them all come together in a homogeneous mix and once that’s done turn the stove off.
After this leave the tea for a moment so it can cool slightly. Then pour into your cup.
Add your favorite creamer and any additional toppings if you prefer. Such as whipped cream, cinnamon or cinnamon sticks for a cute look. I always add creamer and whipped cream to give the tea a creamier taste and texture. Almost like a coffee.
Then enjoy!
