Let’s face it, this post was originally published two years ago, and since then my whole home has changed when it comes to cleaners, clothing, foods and more. As Autumn approaches the encroaching desire to buy Fall scented cleaning products and goods begins. But should you purchase these fragrant pumpkin smells to clean your home or are they a part of the toxic household cleaner problem we have going on? Let’s learn this together.

“In a world full of harsh chemicals in the home, we try our hardest to divert our house away from this nearly unavoidable trend by the industry. But luckily I have began to find amazing solutions. Solutions with scents that remind you of apple cider and flannel blankets…”
— said me two years ago to a line of cleaning products I loved for a long time, and always wanted to purchase over conventional cleaners. But was I wrong about them?
The short answer is, yes. As I have been eluding to.
What brand is this? Am I going to share the brand? Or should I just share the alternatives?
Because the truth is, you can determine whether a bottle of cleaner is safe by its ingredients, and assuming most aren’t clean- naming specific brands unless asked isn’t totally necessary. Instead let’s learn more about what I do recommend, especially if you want that Autumn scent in your Fall cleaners without the chemicals and fragrance labels.
What products and cleaners are safe?
Generally speaking there are three or four products I still use. Two of them being nearly 100% non toxic OR 100% non toxic. Those brands would be:
- Rowe Casa
- Koala Eco
The price range of both offers affordable and slightly more expensive non toxic cleaners. But the easiest way to save money and also include your favorite smells is to make your own DIY cleaners at home!
All you need for this is three ingredients, a spray bottle and towel:
- Vinegar
- Essential Oils (100%)
- Distilled Water
How to Make Homemade Fall Scented Cleaners
From lilac, lemon and lavender of the Summer to pumpkin spice and apples, you can make your own cleaner at home. The base will always be the same, the essential oils are interchangeable!
This is non toxic, though on occasion there are allergies to oils. Be sure to always double check for animal and kid allergies or sensitivities when it comes to certain essential oils!
You can say no to the far more toxic items when you realize it’s this easy and your babies can help you clean! Let’s learn the quick and easy method to making your own cleaners!
Let’s not settle for my previous remarks anymore:
“I know they aren’t 100% natural, but still a lot cleaner than most products out there! And with scents like these you just can’t say no.”
Me. I can say no, and you can too!
DIY CLEANER FORMULA
1.) Using a small funnel pour one cup of vinegar into your spray bottle.
2.) Measure out two cups of distilled water and add this to your spray bottle as well
3.) Taking the funnel out drop 10-20 drops of the oils of your choice into the spray bottle. Screw the lid on and shake well.
Yes, you read that right! It’s that easy to make your own 100% natural and clean cleaners at home. This works so well, and if you add fresh lemon or citrus oil it can double the strength.
Each oil has different uses besides scent! For example, adding peppermint oil is a natural mouse and pest deterrent!
