Let’s face it, most of us would love to find ways to avoid family arguments, alien stories from the weird uncle, questions about your love life and all other chaos of the Holidays. We need more games to play besides “Apples to Apples” that remind us of Christmas! Less karaoke from our wine drunk family and more unique game time! Something that will bring laughter and closeness between family and friends this year. This is five fun Christmas party games to play this year.

Okay, in all seriousness, not every holiday is like that but I had to really get your attention and I may have done that through projection. But on a more serious note- Holidays are supposed to be enjoyed and fun, a time to connect and laugh. This is five fun and unique Christmas party games that will do just that for you!
Let’s get right into it!
Gingerbread House Contest
A family tradition in my household has always been a gingerbread house contest. It’s groups of two or three paired up to work together and make the best house. One person always opts out and they end up judging the contest.
Amazon has all sorts of different ones and it’s fun to get a wide variety so that each one matches it’s builder and each one is uniquely challenging and creative! You can find them here!
Build a Dry Snowman
This picture is misleading to the game- but I don’t have any pictures of past DIY dry snowmen!
But basically it’s this: do you have any left over socks, buttons, blocks of wood, acrylic paint, sticks, ornaments, etc? Use left over craft materials, paper products, sticks and stones of nature or whatever you have laying around to build DIY snowmen in groups of two! Again, one person will opt out to judge the pieces- or you can take to social media for the winner if you have an even number or everyone wants to play!

- 1000 Piece Pack of Christmas Tinsel
- Wooden Rectangular Blocks (for body)

Who’s ChrisTmas is Who’s
In this Christmas game each person is asked a series of Christmas questions by the person who is chosen to be the “host”. Each player is given a piece of paper and matching envelope (it is key that every envelope and piece of paper match so you can’t easily discern who’s is who’s). After this, the players wrote all the answers on the paper they are given and once every question is asked put their paper in the envelope. The host gets every paper and reads them aloud. Each person guesses whose is whose aloud as well! The person who guesses the most right wins a Christmas prize!
Furthermore, this game is so fun and works best in small groups! It’s a very intimate game and enjoyable to get to know the group better!
- Christmas Letter Paper (Search Results)
- 4”x6” Notecards (Cheaper Option)
- Pre-Sharpened Pack of Pencils
- Regular Black Pack of Pens
Once upon a new christmas Story
This game is for all the literature lovers. “Once upon a New Christmas Story” is a game where each player write a new Christmas story in a specific amount of time (you can choose, usually 10-30 minutes). Each writer gets up and reads their own story and together the group decides who wins by casting votes on their favorite. You can personalize this game in so many ways! You can choose genre, or rewriting specific Christmas stories with your own twist, make them funny or silly! Whatever fits your specific group! I love this game, it is so much fun!
Christmas TrEe Decor Hunt
Instead of decorating the Christmas tree before or simply doing it as a family, it’s more fun to prolong this activity by making it a game. Before the family or friends show up hide the decorations for the tree and print cards with hints for the pieces. Make sure to divide them in plastic bags or have a little sign in each decor hiding spot so the first team doesn’t take every item. The goal is not to find and take every piece of decor before everyone else but to find them all first, take one of each, and get to the finish line before the other teams. Then wait until everyone finishes to decorate!
If you are looking for cheap decor for the game:
- White Bulb Ornaments (24 Pack)
- Snowflake Ornaments (36 Pack)
- Pine Cone Ornaments (24 Pack)
- White Pearl Garland (to be cut in sections)
Bonus: Nativity Charades
It wouldn’t be Christmas without the nativity from 2000 years ago when Jesus was born. Therefore, I cannot finish this without adding one fun Christian, Jesus inspired game! This one is exciting! Each person gets a stack of papers. They can be ripped in fourths or kept full (whatever is less expensive for you). One person gets up and pulls a name or place out of a hat and explains it in a very funny or modern way. Without giving this person or place away each player has to draw a guess of who or what the name on the card is that is being explained! Do this for all the Christmas story people, places or even character like Linus on the Charlie Brown Christmas who profess the Gospel in the film! The winner can get a prize if desired!
