Fall is the Season coziness comes back to us. After five brutal months of heat, sheets instead of comforters, and shorts we finally have warm cups in our hands, spooky movies (Scooby Doo), and big blankets to warm not just out bodies but our hearts. Maybe I took that too far. Or maybe I didn’t. For years I haven’t really learned the art of relaxation, peace, or hygge in my home. Hygge is just this. A cozy feeling in your home and heart. It’s peace. It’s comfort. Finally by this Fall I am feeling more mastery over this feeling and behavior in my own home and want to share that with you. There is no better time or Season than this one to learn these tips! This is seven Fall hygge ideas to relax your (home &) soul!

Let’s get right into it!
1.) Take a Long Quiet Walk
One of my favorite ways to add Hygge to my day is with a long quiet walk every morning when the air is still crisp and cold. I always walk on a quiet risad with no traffic. But some people cannot achieve all of this, so I will say, a walk, no matter the rest of the conditions, will always help in my opinion.
2.) Have a movie night of your favorite classics
An all time favorite of mine is Scooby Doo (as I mentioned earlier). I always go with the older versions, the classic versions of my favorite cartoons, movies or TV shows. Especially in the Fall, you want Autumn related or classic old fashioned content in your brain, this always gives me a happy cozy feeling.
3.) Plan a Day with Yourself
I know that this isn’t possible for everyone. So I will also provide an alternative. But when I do this, I get up take an easy morning, then plan some of my favorite things in my day. I will go buy myself flowers, some ingredients for a favorite pastry, a coffee drink, and then come home. I will change into a cozy outfit, open the windows, play my favorite music and bake.
If you can’t escape kids or work, my suggestion is to do a few small things that will remind yourself to prioritize yourself. To remind yourself of your worth, and that you need to have needs met to be in a happy and healthy place. This could be, buying yourself flowering on your grocery run, ordering from your favorite restaurant for dinner. This reminds us that each of us in the family unit are worth it while still doing things that benefit our family and kids (because what kid would say no to eating out!).
4.) Have a cozy storage tub to bring out in Fall.
This is a favorite of mine. This tub would be full of chunky cozy blankets, soft throw pillows and comfy leggings and socks. Let your living room turn into a giant blanket and pillow pit.
A bonus for this is to leave windows open in the morning and evenings to cool the house, this way you can burry yourself in the cozy disaster while also allowing the last fresh airs in before the chills of Winter.
5.) Spend a day at the Pumpkin Patch
Here is the next of the Fall hygge ideas. The wording of this matters the *most*. Spend a day at the pumpkin patch. This doesn’t really have to be at the pumpkin patch alone. But I have found that planning whole days to enjoy myself makes me so much happier and more at peace. There is a reason God tells us to take breaks once a week. Because it actually makes you feel so much better. It makes you feel peace and hygge. This looks like getting dressed in a cute outfit after a warm shower. This looks like buying a pumpkin drink on your way. Walking around the whole patch to do all the activities. Walking the corn maze. THEN buying a pumpkin, going home, and turning on those spooky movies, and designing your pumpkin. (Don’t forget to buy candles like I always do. Girl I got you.)
If you can’t afford all of this (like me some years) cut out the extra expenses. But this doesn’t mean you can’t make the most out of the day anyways OR that you can’t make a day of it. Throw a picnic basket together for lunch from home! If you can’t go to a patch this year, get a cheap pumpkin from Walmart and make a day out of it by decorating the pumpkin and baking with the guts! The seeds and the guts are all edible to a certain degree and Pinterest has all the recipes for that! Don’t let budget discourage you!
6.) Read a Favorite Book
I again want to insert the word classic here. Because Fall is the Season of classics to me. A favorite of mine is The Secret Garden. Don’t take this à la mode either, add in the hot tea, cozy slippers and warm blanket. Heck, add a face mask too. This gets us off our phones, which actually can lower anxiety and return order and peace into your life, day, routine! One of my favorite things to do.
7.) Build a Blanket Fort
Who told us to stop doing this as we became adults? I am here to tell you it is not illegal for a grown adult to build an indoor fort and turn on their favorite movie with some popcorn. I will leave it at that.
