Our morning routines define most often how we feel, what we do, how we do it for the day ahead of us. Having a poor morning routine can make for a poor rest of the day. It’s really important to have one, and equally as important that it’s a good one. I tend to say, one that follows the Seasons. I believe we are made to live Seasonally. To move and flow with the way the natural world is moving and flowing. This is how many have lived until the last centuries. It is how God intended our lives. One of my favorite seasonal changes is in my morning routines. So today I am going to share my healthy Autumn morning routine specifically for my lifestyle in simple living.

Here is My Autumn Morning Routine
1.) Wake up early but with the Sun
No matter the time of year I wake up early. I am usually up between 6:30-8:00. As the weather changes I do find myself sleeping in later because I like to wake up when the sun is already up. So I wake up on the outskirts of the waking sun. This is a more natural way to wake up. For those that work early implementing days that you sleep in until the sun is out can be so beneficial and feels so refreshing to sleep in! There is a reason for the late sunrise and early sunset. All of nature slows and hibernates this time of year. We should learn to flow a little different with the Seasons and daylight as well!
2.) Open the Windows
Next I almost always open my bedroom windows if they aren’t open already. It is so good to get fresh air right when you wake up in the morning.
3.) Take Supplements
Next I take my supplements and medicines. Making sure you are taking care of your body in the changing Seasons is important. I always take mine as I wake up because most of them I take before eating. This is when it really matters what you put in your body as we get to the colder months of the year. Learn to fill yourself with good things and extra good things as the Seasons do change!
4.) Read my Bible and Journal
Next I try to always read my Bible, bring all of my cares to Jesus before the day begins and I get on my phone too much. I spend about twenty minutes doing this because it can be hard to be motivated to do it every day. But if there is a set time it keeps me in the Word but not guilting myself into it or feeling like I don’t have a schedule. Fall is a busy season for many and it’s important to make time to do this so that you can relax before the busy of the day hits, bring your cares to God, and in a way that doesn’t rush you but also that doesn’t make you lose track of time.
5.) Moisture Moisture Moisture
Next in my Autumn morning routine comes getting ready, changing into warmer clothes, washing my face, putting on extra moisturizer since my skin can dry in the weather change. This is the one I use just below and it is incredible, by CeraVe. Taking close care of your skin is super important for the cold Seasons. The damage that can occur when you have dry skin is not good! It’s vital to take better care of your skin this time of year, especially if you live in a colder environment.
6.) Breakfast
Next I have breakfast, and try to make it light but nutritious. This is usually warm breakfast foods like oatmeal and eggs. I always pair with water or hot tea. Giving the loads of nutrition necessary for Winter months, while also being warm and light. I go for warm foods and drinks to help keep my body temperature up and cozy!
7.) Next is a small walk or do something fun like picking apples from the wild trees
Since I live small town and work from home I do have opportunities to do this as a part of my morning routine. Even if you can squeeze a few minutes in to walk in the cool Autumn air I definitely recommend it. Especially before it gets harder to do in Winter months.
That is my Autumn Morning Routine!
